PUBLIC NOTICE:

Pursuant to Indiana Code 5-14-1.5, this notice is issued that the Redevelopment Commission will hold an executive session to discuss strategy with respect to litigation or potential litigation and/or a real property transaction. The details of the session are as follows:

  • Date: Wednesday, May 27, 2026
  • Time: 3:00 p.m., preceding the regularly scheduled meeting at 4:00 p.m.
  • Location: 2nd Floor Council Chambers, Memorial Building, 132 S. Main Street, Batesville, IN 47006

The purpose of this executive session permitted under Indiana Code 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(2)(B). Please note that this session is not open to the public, and no other subject matter will be discussed during this meeting.

The Redevelopment Commission is committed to adhering to all requirements of Indiana’s public meetings law, and this executive session will be conducted in full compliance with those provisions.

Redevelopment Commission

Event Type

The Batesville Redevelopment Commission meets at 4:00 p.m., Memorial building, 132 S. Main Street, Batesville, In. on the 4th Wednesday, monthly.

The primary function of the commission is to investigate, study, and survey areas needing  redevelopment within the corporate boundaries of the municipality. Other duties include:

  • Promote the use of land in the manner that best serves the municipality
  • Cooperate with other departments and agencies, to combat and eliminate blight
  • Make reports and findings, which are open to inspection by the public
  • Select, acquire, and redevelop blighted areas in the manner that best serves the interests of the municipality and its citizens, in accordance with I.C. 36-7-14-11

Park & Recreation Board

Event Type

The Parks and Recreation Board oversees many well-manicured city parks, including the Memorial Pool.

The board meets the third Wednesday of the following months: February, May, August and November at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers, 2nd floor of the Memorial building, 132 S. Main Street, unless otherwise stated.

The four members are appointed by the Mayor. The Board has the power to perform all acts necessary to acquire and develop sites and facilities, and to conduct any programs as are generally understood to be park and recreation functions in accordance with I.C. 36-10-3.
