The Batesville Board of Public Works and Safety meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm, with the exception of the December, 2024 meeting.
Consisting of three members, the Board of Public Works and Safety is responsible for law enforcement and fire protection as specified in I.C. 36-8. They also oversee streets, sanitation, transportation, and sewers.
The Batesville Common Council meets the 2nd Monday of each month (immediately following Board of Public Works & Safety), with the exception of the December, 2024 meeting.
Both a legislative body and fiscal body, Common Council members are part-time elected officials who serve for a term of four years. As individual council members, they do not possess significant powers.
The council exercises powers through ordinances and appropriation of monies in accordance with I.C. 36-4-6-18.
