BATESVILLE, IN (June 29, 2026) — Mayor John Irrgang is pleased to announce that Amy Lunsford has been appointed Economic Development Director for the City of Batesville, succeeding Angela Linville, who recently resigned from the role to pursue another opportunity.
Lunsford joins the City after nearly four years as Executive Director of Batesville Main Street, a
nonprofit arm of economic development focused on revitalizing the downtown district. In that role, she oversaw the projects and events that helped drive economic growth in the Main Street District, working closely with an all-volunteer board.
“When I took my position with Main Street, I found a real love and passion for this community and moving it forward,” Lunsford said. “My focus was solely on downtown, and now I’m excited to expand that citywide — helping to create a thriving community as a whole.”
In her new role, Lunsford will focus on increasing the city’s economic vitality and quality of life
through business retention, recruitment, and community development. Her priorities for the first year include strengthening community collaboration and supporting local business retention.
Lunsford grew up in Athens, Ohio, and later lived in Orlando, Florida, before settling in
Batesville. She and her husband, Gary, were college sweethearts who reconnected years later and recently married. She lives in Batesville and supports Gary in his bike racing pursuits as well as enjoys their travel and adventures together. Outside of work, she has a longtime passion for the Drum Corps and Winter Guard communities, having competed internationally in the marching arts and earned a World Championship title.
Mayor Irrgang welcomed the appointment. “Amy brings a proven track record of moving our downtown forward, and that same energy and commitment will now benefit the entire city.”
