The Mayor’s Book Club will host its monthly meeting on May 13th, featuring Confessions of a Recovering Traffic Engineer by Charles Marohn.

This nonfiction book takes an honest look at how modern road design has shaped — and often harmed — our communities. Marohn draws on his own career as a traffic engineer to challenge conventional thinking about streets, speed, and how we move through our towns.

He makes a compelling case for designing roads that work better for people, not just cars.
It offers a practical and thought-provoking perspective on mobility and community design, making it a natural fit for conversations about Batesville’s streets, neighborhoods, and future.
This meeting will be held at the Batesville Memorial Public Library.

No RSVP is required, walk-ins are welcome, and participants are encouraged to attend whether they’ve read the full book, part of it, or simply want to join the conversation.
